How is your summer going?
This post is referring back to my holidays in Greece. Do you remember my trip to the Greek Islands? I spoke to you about Crete (link HERE ) which is the largest Greek Island but Santorini is the most touristy one. The population of Santorini numbers 11,000 people but every year more than 500,000 tourists visit the island.
We arrived to Santorini by ferry. Santorini is approximately 70 nautical miles from Crete.
I recommend to visit the two main villages, Fira and Oía. Both are really beautiful.
Santorini is a volcanic island, the entire centre of the circular island sank into the sea during the tremendous volcanic explosion 3.500 years ago, this was one of the most violent known eruptions of its type, causing the centre of the island to collapse into the now-empty caldera. The sea rushed in to fill it, leaving only the present, crescent-shaped island above water
Tourism is the main occupation in Santorini today. In the summer, thousands of visitors come to the island, life takes place in the open air, and the locals work non-stop. When winter comes, everything goes quiet and nearly empty. In the spring, before the tourists start to arrive again, the island is a hive of activity as nearly the entire island is repainted and freshened up.

Here one more but very different striped dress, this was from Zara (old), the second dress is from American Eagle and the hat from a Greek market.
Being so touristy, I guess many of you have already visited the pretty island of Santorini, if you have not, I hope my post helps you to know better this fantastic place.
Thanks again for your lovely comments! xxx
