The Isle of Spice is a lush, green island with extensive forests on its mountainous slopes, its natural beauty make it one of the most attractive islands of the Windward group.
Arrival to St George's port
It was just so lovely getting up in the morning and view different port everyday from the balcony in my bedroom, I loved enjoying the beautiful views when I got up.
After breakfast, I went to see the view of the Island from the other side of the ship:
We arrived to St George's which is the capital with a population of 30,000. It is a town with mainly two floor houses, this is a view of one of the main streets near the port where you can see that the biggest building is our ship Britannia from PO Cruises
Spices Market on small villagesOne typical place to visit during a trip to Grenada is the Spice markets, these are small shops in villages where the local ladies explained and show us the different spices. We then did some purchases to bring to UK spices for our cooking and for presents as they all come in nicely decorated handmade boxes.
Some of the beautiful places in Grenada are the waterfalls, there are few more in the small Island, we dicided to go to Anandale as it was the closest to St George's.

|Locals will jump in exchange of a few dollars, I meant I did not ask them, they just wanted to do it and get some money|
Grand Etang National Park
Grand Etang lake is in the rain forest. Every Caribbean Island has sunny beaches where often it doesn't rain in all the day and not far, just few kilometres away from the beach, you can travel to the rain forest, where there is over 80% more chances to rain, so despite being on the same day, in the rain forest was cloudy. Luckily, we did not get wet but if you come to this pretty park which is one of the most visited places in Grenada be ready for showers.
|You may notice that it was a bit windy ;)|
If you walk quietly in the forest, you will see small monkeys. Take a couple of bananas from the ship so they will come to you after this delicious food :)
Spacious and beautiful beaches
There are many beautiful beaches in Grenada, we decided to sunbathe in Grand Anse Beach as it was not too far from the capital. We took a Boat Taxi from the beach to St George's harbour, these are small independently-operated motorboats where you need to bargain for the fare like in the rest of taxis in the island.

Thanks a lot for your comments and enjoy the week!
