As you know, I went to Unites Arab Emirates and Oman during my last holidays, if you remember, we stopped in Khasab during the cruise, this is a small city that belongs to Oman and it is bordering the UAE.
There is not much to see in Khasab as it is a small city and it is a work in progress for tourism, there are only a few shops, so I though to share the three main points to see if you are planning to come here :)
Dhow Cruise Tour
2. Khasab Castle
This fort was build by the Portuguese in the 17th century and has been renovated lately, in 2007.
There are various boats, clothing and artefacts placed throughout the structure. The grounds are so immaculate and well kept that you loose some of its old world charm but still get glimpse into its history, it is worth to see the Castle to learn more of the Omani history and the entry is only 1.00€, the Dhow tour last few hours so you will have plenty of time to scape to the Castle while you are in Khasab.
There are exhibits of traditional Musandam lifestyle and artefacts. Three examples of locally made boats, as well as replicas of traditional Musandam houses
|View of the ship from the Castle|
3. Khasab MosqueFrom the port, there are free buses that take you to the castle and the city centre, The city has very few shops and the Mosque, this is the first mosque that I visited on my trip. This is not one of the biggest mosques in Oman, I will show you The Grand Mosque in Muscat in future posts.
I recommend to see the city as the bus is free, it takes a couple of hours to see the city and castle, later you can see Khasab beach, do snorkelling or take the Dhow tour
