Pamukkale, The Cotton Castle

Hi all!
As you know, I went to Turkey last month and I have not posted many pictures of this trip yet. If you follow me in Instagram, you know that I went to Pamukkale and I told you that this place impressed me a lot, this is one of the most amazing places that I have seen and one of the most famous Turkey landmarks. I have been coming to Turkey many times, I always wanted to visit it and we finally made it, it is just over three hours drive from my apartment in Bodrum.

This is a fantastic surreal natural wonder that is a must-do if you come to Turkey. It is formed from calcium deposits left by the area's hot springs. In the same way that stalactites form within limestone caves, the deposits grow on the steep slopes and gradually fan out to form natural terraces.
Pamukkale means in Turkish "cotton castle" and the blinding white colour of these travertines do look like a bizarre natural fortress of sorts.

Hola a Tod@s!

As a conservation measure, you have to walk barefoot only from the base of the calcite mountain up the entire cliff ridge. The terraces at the upper levels hold pools of water where you can sit in and the water is always warm.

We spent all the day there so we could see a very beautiful sunset, as the sun was coming down you can see the orange colours, if I look a bit orange is for the sunset, I have not saturated the pictures.

All the calcium deposits are like white powder on the floor of the travertine

Once again, thanks a lot for your lovely comments and I encourage you to leave me a comment if you are reading this post, please :)

Pamukkale looks like such an interesting and beautiful place. Your photos are lovely and you looked like you were enjoying the day. My girls loved Primark when we were in Europe - everything was affordable, and cute

Oh, these pictures are incredible! And I didn't realize you can wade in the water. I really like the picture of the sunset with the flowers in the distance. My daughters have traveled to so many different places, but Turkey is one place they have yet to visit. You look lovely in these pics, my friend. You live your life free and simple, how wonderful that is.
