Chefchaouen, the blue city

Hello again!

The city of Chefchaouen (or simply Chaouen) in the North of Morocco was painted blue by the Jewish refugees of the 30’s. The reason for this (besides the religious one) was to cool down the heat of the summer months and also as a mosquito repellent.
On  my last post, I was recommending where to stay if you come to Chaouen and how to get to this beautiful blue city (HERE), on this week post I will show you the FIVE things to see.

We were very well located in The Medina, we stayed in RIAD ZAITOUNA, from here we could access to the main points of the city by foot.

1. Walk to the Spanish Mosque to enjoy the best views

 2. Chaouen Waterfalls

    Las cascadas de Chaouen

The locals bath in the waterfalls and wash their clothes in the washing area.

3. Medina streets

Pasear por la medina

4.Chaouen Museum Castle

Castillo museo de Chaouen

Great views from the tower, a little museum and beautiful gardens.

5. The Main Square

La plaza

The Castle is in the Main Square where there are a lot of restaurants and coffee places and it is impossible not to stop for a drink or something to eat and enjoy the atmosphere.
