Hierapolis in Pamukkale

Hi everybody!
Do you remember that I was in Turkey a couple of months ago? Turkey is a very beautiful country for holidays but not that safe at the moment, so we will need wait until things settle down there for us to feel safe to travel to Turkey again, while we wait, I though to show you one more place here: Hierapolis which was an ancient Roman city and its ruins are on the top of Pamukkale

Do you remember my post with the breathtaking views in Pamukkale? Check the post HERE
There is a city from the Greco-Roman period just adjacent to the thermal waters which include baths, temple ruins, a monumental arch, a nymphaeum, a necropolis and a theatre.
The hot springs have been used as an Spa since the 2nd century BC

Views of the calcite clifts although the best photos with the surreal landscapes are on my first post from Pamukkale

Ruins of the ancient Roman city Hierapolis:

Ruinas de la ciudad romana de Hierapolis

 The Roman Theatre

El Teatro Romano

Really impressive ruins with stunning views

Antique Pool and Cleopatra's pool

Hierapolis had a Health Centre, in those years, thousands of people were coming to the baths which there are more than 15 and they continue coming today.
The water in the thermal pool is 36-57 °C. The spa water contains bicarbonate, sulphate and carbon dioxide, as well as iron and radioactive combination. The water in this spring is suitable for taking showers and drinking cures.

The marble portico with Ionic arrangement fell into the spring during an earthquake which happened in the 7th century AD

It's sad that there is so many scary incidents going on on the world today... hopefully soon you'll get to visit there again.

There's so much rich and beautification history there... what a beautiful skyline... I'm glad you were able to visit there Nuria before the unrest happened ♡♡♡
